Greenville man arrested for sexual assault of minor

EUREKA TOWNSHIP — A 28-year-old Greenville man is in custody after he was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old child.

Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a sexual assault early Sunday morning, July 7, in Eureka Township that led to the arrest of John William Allen Jr.

A Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputy assigned to Eureka Township was called to the home where a 12-year-old reported to have been sexually assaulted by a person known to the victim.

The Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office issued a two-count warrant for the suspect’s arrest and Allen was arrested by Montcalm County Sheriff’s detectives.

On July 11, Allen was arraigned on charges of criminal sexual assault second degree and indecent exposure.

Allen remains in custody with a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
