Cedar Springs man injured in Greenville motorcycle accident

EUREKA TOWNSHIP — A 32-year-old Cedar Springs man was injured and remains hospitalized after he was struck by another vehicle while driving his motorcycle Sunday afternoon.

According to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office, Denny Walter was southbound on South Greenville Road at approximately 4:40 p.m. when a 2011 GMC, driven by Karen Burkholder, 58 of Gowen, was leaving the Petersen Oil parking lot to head north on South Greenville Road.

Burkholder did not see Walter and entered the roadway striking the motorcycle.

Walter sustained multiple injuries and was transported by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Walter’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

South Greenville Road was closed for approximately 45 minutes and the Greenville Department of Public Safety assisted at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
