Annual Montcalm County land auction set for Friday

SHERIDAN — More than five dozen properties will be up for grabs at the annual Montcalm County minimum bid land auction Friday.

The auction is being moved from the Montcalm County Administrative Building (old courthouse) to the Sheridan Community Center, 205 Saint Clair St., to make room for more participants, according to Montcalm County Treasurer JoAnne Vukin.

Participants may register the day of the sale from 11 a.m. to noon. The auction will begin at noon.

A total of 65 parcels are up for auction this year. One property was recently withdrawn from the auction — a small home at 9890 E. Carson City Road in Carson City is being purchased by the Bloomer Township Board at the minimum bid of $3,300, according to Vukin.

Some of the properties up for grabs this year include:

• A two-story home at 312 W. Washington St. in Greenville at a starting bid of $9,000.

• A two-story home at 408 State St. in Greenvlle at a starting bid of $6,800.

• A small home at 904 N. Edgewood St. in Greenville at a starting bid of $6,600.

• A small home at 806 E. Coffren Ave. in Greenville at a starting bid of $6,200.

• A small home at 121 W. Lake St. in Stanton at a starting bid of $2,800.

• A two-story former storefront at 125 Clark St. in Six Lakes at a starting bid of $4,000.

• A cottage-style home on a large lot at 9670 N. Six Lakes Road in Belvidere Township at a starting bid of $1,700.

• A two-story home at 10195 E. Boyer Road in Bloomer Township at a starting bid of $850.

• A former general store and gas station at 11481 Elm Drive in Cato Township at a starting bid of $22,250.

• A two-story home at 4599 E. Lake Montcalm Road in Home Township at a starting bid of $3,600.

• A small home at 4837 Oak St. in Maple Valley Township at a starting bid of $2,100.

• A small home at 2825 S. Nevins Road in Sidney Township at a starting bid of $1,600.

• A small home on South Fourth Street in Pierson Township at a starting bid of $3,000.

• The former Village Inn Restaurant & Bar at 10 S. Fourth St. in Pierson Township at a starting bid of $17,250.

Properties not sold at Friday’s auction will be made available at a no minimum bid auction later this year.
