GREENVILLE — As they have every year since 1991, the Greenville Yellow Jackets will begin the high school football season against its longtime rival Belding Redskins.

Greenville will travel to Rudness Field on Aug. 29 with a five game winning streak in tact. The Yellow Jackets won 43-12 last year in the first game ever at Legacy Field.

The Yellow Jackets return home for a week two matchup against Kenowa Hills. It’s one of five home games for Greenville this season.

Kenowa Hills has won three straight regular season games dating to 2008, but it was the Yellow Jackets coming out on top in the 2010 pre-district playoff game at Black Field.

Greenville begins O-K Bronze Conference play in week three with a road game at Middleville Thornapple Kellogg. Kellogg was one of Greenville’s four losses (18-15) by two touchdowns or less last year.

Two other road games include Northview (Sept. 27) and Forest Hills Northern (Oct. 11).

The game against FHN is at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park. The game is being used as a fundraiser for the Huskies athletic department.

Greenville will host Byron Center on Sept. 20 when they will introduce the second class into the Greenville Athletic Hall of Fame.

West Catholic visits Legacy Field on Oct. 4. The Panthers lost last year in the Division 5 state final to Portland 12-9. They won a state title in 2010 with a win over Olivet.

The West Catholic game is also Parent’s Night.

Greenville will close out the regular season with back-to-back home games against Forest Hills Eastern (Oct. 18) and Cedar Springs (Oct. 25).

Eastern is the homecoming opponent, which Greenville defeated 46-13 last year.

The annual Lights Out game is the final game against the Red Hawks.

This will be Greenville’s second season in the O-K Bronze.
