But in bracket play the Eagles lost to Middleville Thornapple Kellogg 21-9, 21-14. Mackenzie Geister had 25 kills to lead CC-Crystal. Jaylin fisher had 42 assists, Sierra Assemany had 48 digs, Tori Christensen had eight aces and Tia Jolls had two blocks. Next match: at the Belding Invitational next Saturday.
Greenville wins at Pine River: The Yellow Jackets took first place at the LeRoy Pine River Invitational Saturday with an undefeated record. In pool play Marion lost 25-16, 25-17; Benzonia Benzie Central lost 25-15, 25-22 and Traverse City Christian lost 25-13, 25-9. In the semifinals the host Bucks lost 25-21, 25-7 and in the finals Reed City lost 25-15, 25-20. Leah Somerfield had 41 kills and seven aces for Greenville. Morgan Wallin dished out 83 aces while Kylee Moody had 24 digs. Record: 14-3-1. Next match: at home against Grand Rapids Northview Sept. 19.
Lowell 5, Greenville 0: The Yellow Jackets were shut out by the Red Arrows Friday as part of their “Pink Arrow Night.” William Hollinshead had 13 saves in the loss. Record: 3-5. Next game: at home against Grand Rapids West Catholic Tuesday.
Greenville has two winners at Hamilton: The Yellow Jackets went to Hamilton for a quadrangular with the host Bulldogs, Grant and Hastings Saturday. Greenville had two undefeated players, as Brandon Brom won the No. 1 singles flight with just one game lost all day, and Peter Januzelli was 3-0 in the No. 3 singles flight. Going 2-1 was No. 2 singles player A.J. Ebels, Sam Lindeman in No. 4 singles and Chris Ralph and Ryan Sprague in No. 2 doubles. Next match: at Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern Wednesday.
