Central Montcalm 2nd: The Hornets placed second behind Big Rapids at Tuesday’s CSAA Jamboree hosted by Chippewa Hills at The Pines. Big Rapids shot 367, while Central Montcalm shot 386. The host Warriors finished with 474 and Lakeview 533. Sophie Villet tied for match medalist honors with an 89. It was a personal best round for Villet. Ava Miller fired a 94, Tawny Graves 100 and Samantha Kirk 103. Quote: “The team is showing some of the depth. They continue to have players step up and shoot their personal best and help out the team.” — Hornets coach Gary Buchholz. Next match: today at the Chippewa Hills Invitational.

Belding fifth at own jamboree: The Redskins hosted the O-K Rainbow jamboree Tuesday at Ridgeview Golf Course, finishing fifth with a 222 team score. Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian got the win with a 164 followed by Grandville Calvin Christian with a 194 and Comstock Park with a 210. Alyviah Mason led Belding with a 52, followed by Jenny Brownell with a 56 and Tayler Reeves and Sarah Mitchell with matching 57s. Next match: at Calvin Christian for a jamboree Thursday.

Soccer

West Catholic 4, Greenville 1: The Falcons broke open a 1-1 tie at halftime with three goals for an O-K Bronze Conference win Tuesday. Kyle Farmer had the only goal for Greenville, while goalkeeper William Hollinshead made nine saves. Record: 3-7. Next game: at home against Lakeview Thursday.

 

Volleyball

Belding 3, Comstock Park 0: The Redskins picked up an O-K Blue Conference win over the Panthers Tuesday, by winning in straight games 25-14, 25-21, 25-13. Gabby Holyfield, Rachel Hunt and Stefanie Harig had six kills each, Holyfield, Hunt and Peyton Mount had three blocks each, Sam McNeal led in aces with four and digs with 12 and Brooke Linebaugh had 25 assists. Records: 10-2-2 and 2-0. Next match: at home for a tournament Saturday.
