LAKEVIEW — The 3rd annual 10K/5K run/walk, 1-mile track walk, fun run for kids and community wellness festival will be held in Lakeview, Sept. 29th at 2:00 p.m.
Organized by the WILDCAT P.R.I.D.E Runfest committee, all races meet and finish at KOS Field on the Lakeview High School’s campus. This event also features children’s warm-up activities and obstacle course, locally grown food and educational booths and races/walks that are distance appropriate for young runners.
This is the second 5K Race of the Lakeview 2013 3-Run Series. The third race in the series is the Turkey Trot scheduled to take place at Lakeside Park in Lakeview on Thanksgiving morning.
The purpose of WILDCAT P.R.I.D.E Runfest is to provide an exciting event inspiring overall health and fitness fun in the Lakeview community. All proceeds of this and past events support the enhancement of physical fitness, nutrition and other educational opportunities at Lakeview Community Schools.
The races and wellness festival is supported by the Lakeview Jaycees — the event’s Title Sponsor. Additional support comes from the Michigan Apple Committee, Dave Hallada /State Farm Insurance, Community First Federal Credit Union, Phil Peasley, Carr Farms, Wesco, Chemical Bank, Lakeview Chiropractic, Parker Hannifin, R. Sullivan, Lakeview Dental Associates and The Daily News.
The 10K run course, mostly paved with minimal trail, will take the runner out and around beautiful Tamarack Lake, through downtown Lakeview, ending at the Lakeview High School track Located at Kos Field. The 5K run/walk paved course routes through historic Lakeview along Tamarack Lake and back to the Lakeview High School Track.
Cost is $25 and runners can register online at www.webscorer.com (Race ID: 11598). The youth one-mile and assorted youth distance fun runs will all take place on the Kos Field track. These races are free of charge with a $5 fee for a youth T-shirt and can be registered for at www.webscorer.com, as well.
