RICHLAND TOWNSHIP— Two teenagers were injured in a three-vehicle accident near Vestaburg this evening.
According to the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post, troopers responded to the intersection of M-46 and Pine Grove Road after a report of a personal injury accident at 5:23 p.m.
Investigation revealed that a 17-year-old Vestaburg woman was driving a 1991 Jeep eastbound on M-46 when she came upon a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica driven by a 41-year-old Vestaburg woman.
The Chrysler was attempting to turn north onto Pine Grove Road. The Jeep attempted to avoid the Chrysler and lost control, going into oncoming westbound traffic. The Jeep was struck by a westbound Ford F250 Super Duty pickup driven by a 40-year-old Morley man.
The 17-year-old Vestaburg woman and her passenger, a 15-year-old male, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The young woman was transported to Gratiot Medical Care by ambulance while the young man was transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids by Aeromed.
No one else was injured. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident. Safety belts were worn by all parties involved.
The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office, Richland Township Fire Department and Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services and Rescue also responded to the scene.
The accident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post.
