GREENVILLE — There’s been a lot of changes at the dentist office of Dr. John O’Donald’s. With the new addition to the office completed in July, Dr. O’Donald welcomed in two dentists to share in his practice — Dr. Alan Havens and Dr. Scott Ribitch.

With three new clinical rooms, two counsel rooms and new space for x-ray equipment use, O’Donald, who has been in practice in Greenville for 31 years, has opened his doors to soon-to-be-retired Havens, who has been practicing in Greenville for the past 40 years and is now easing his patients into a new place and, eventually, new dentists, as he plans to work into 2014 before he retires.

“Dr. Havens has many years of clinical experience,” O’Donald said. “He is in the office every day making sure the transition for his patients to my practice goes smoothly.

“I have known Dr. Havens for the 31 years, since I have been practicing in Greenville,” Dr. O’Donald continued. “We have always had a good relationship. Our kids knew each other and, in fact, Alan’s son, Dr. Andrew Havens, works for my wife’s physical therapy practice.

Dr. Havens realized he was ready to retire and wanted an office that would give his patients the kind of care they were used to.”

After hiring Ribitch, a Mount Pleasant native who graduated from the University of Michigan in May, O’Donald said he has heard rumors that he, too, is retiring, but, he assured, those are just rumors.

“Dr. Ribitch received excellent recommendations from his clinical instructors and he’s an outgoing and likable guy,” O’Donald said. “I wanted someone who would be a good fit with Greenville. He has excellent clinical skills and a great, gentle chair-side manor. He is enthusiastic and just plan fun to be with. Greenville is the perfect town for him.”

Ribitch, who played college baseball and loves the outdoors, became comfortable with Greenville and its community members immediately and is looking forward to being a part of the Greenville community.

“I like it here. It’s nice and very similar to Mount Pleasant,” Ribitch said. “This is a great opportunity for me with this being my first job in my career, being able to work with Dr. O’Donald and Dr. Havens, who both have years of experience. It can only make me a better dentist and it’s a great advantage for our patients.”

Ribitch lives in Rockford but said he plans to move to Greenville soon. He’s looking forward to getting involved with local baseball leagues, either coaching or umpiring.

O’Donald staffs 16 employees, full-time and part-time.

“My practice has grown obviously,” O’Donald said. “We have a great staff to attend to patients’ needs. My goal is to continue giving everyone the personal caring service in a very friendly environment.”

O’Donald’s office is at 1330 W. Washington St. Call (616) 754-7414 for more information.
