Saturday is a big day for all the area cross country teams, as the regional tournaments are that day.
In polling area cross country coaches, they all think their teams are ready for the competition.
Greenville will run at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in the Traverse City Central regional for Division 1.
“We’ll have our work cut out for us,” boys coach Eric Nichols said. “It’s a regional that’s loaded and you just never know. You just tell the kids to show up and have a day. That’s what we’ll try to do.”
The Yellow Jacket girls will be going in with some momentum after winning the Central Montcalm Pre-Regional Run.
“I think we’re excited. I think we’re going to bring our best competition,” girls coach Chelsea Cates said. “I know the girls will give it all they got. It’s going to be tough competition.”
Belding will be running at Carson City-Crystal in Division 2.
“The girls have been running well all year,” coach John Carlson said. “Teresa Myles should finish in the top seven or eight. She has had an amazing season.”
As for the boys, “Our guys have struggled with injuries in the second half of the year,” Carlson noted. “Trevor Curtis has a great chance of qualifying for finals.”
Central Montcalm will also be heading to Carson City for their Division 3 regional. But they will run at 10:30 and 11:30, before the Division 2 regional.
“I’m confident going into regionals,” Green Hornets coach Shad Morgan said. “The kids are looking to run faster and better every week. Hopefully Saturday is it for them.”
Lakeview will run at the Division 3 regional at Allendale, Tri County is also at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa for a Division 2 regional that takes place before Greenville’s, Montabella and Vestaburg are also at Carson City-Crystal for the first race in Division 4, while the Eagles will be in the second race in Division 3 at home.
