MONTCALM TOWNSHIP — Traffic on M-91 was backed up for nearly a half hour Tuesday afternoon as crews worked to clear a five-vehicle accident near Greenville.

The accident occurred around 3 p.m. in Montcalm Township just north of Greenville,

Montcalm County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Butts said a woman was turning left from the southbound lane into Orchard View Veterinarian Clinic when she was struck from behind by another vehicle.

Three other vehicles were unable to stop in time to avoid each other, striking one vehicle and the next from behind.

Butts said because of conflicting stories by those involved, the investigation is still open. He declined to give names of those involved or makes of the vehicles involved at this time.

Two vehicles sustained heavy damage while the others sustained minor damage. There were no injuries to anyone involved.
