SIDNEY TOWNSHIP — Police are looking for the driver of a white sport utility vehicle that struck a pedestrian then left the scene without stopping at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday on Sheridan Road near Pakes Road.

According to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department, the vehicle was traveling south on Sheridan when it struck a 16-year-old Sidney youth who was walking south on the same side of the road. The vehicle’s mirror struck the youth’s arm and the vehicle continued southbound.

The pedestrian received only minor injuries that did not require medial attention. Police say the youth was not trick-or-treating and visibility of the vehicle’s driver may have been hampered by rain that was falling at the time.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (989) 831-5253 or the tip line at (989) 831-7593.
