Vestaburg family displaced by house fire

VESTABURG — A small house fire Sunday morning caused significant damage to a home near the corner of 3rd Street and D Ave.

Richland Township Fire Chief Calvin Callison said the fire started in the rear of the home, near a wooden stove. However, the cause of the fire is unknown.

One resident was home during the blaze, which started around 7 a.m. Sunday. The man was able to escape the home along with the family’s pets.

According to Callison, the family has been displaced and Red Cross is assisting them with temporary housing.
