CARSON CITY — A special Veterans Day ceremony will take place from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Carson City-Crystal High School east gymnasium.
“All people, especially veterans, are welcome to join us,” said Abbie Savin, who works for AmeriCorps VISTA at Carson City-Crystal Area Schools. “We encourage community participation.
Posting of the colors will be led by Jack Clayton.
The Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the National Anthem will be performed, followed by an opening prayer from Mike McAlvey, the assistant pastor of First Baptist Church.
Carson City-Crystal High School Principal Duane Lyons will be the featured speaker. Special guests will include American Legion Post 380 of Carson City and American Legion Post 182 of Hubbardston.
Carson CIty Mayor Bruce Tasker will address the crowd, followed by a special musical selection of “Lest We Forget” by the CC-C HIgh School Band led by Chad Parmenter.
The CC-C High School Drama Club will present a student reading, led by Kathy Kurtze.
After “Taps” and a moment of silence, the Rev. Ken Williamson of Calvary Lutheran Church will give the closing prayer.
