Lakeview wins Farwell Invite: The Wildcats went 5-0 at the Farwell Invitational Saturday to win the tournament. Lakeview beat Kingsley 63-6, the host Eagles 52-26, Fulton 55-21, Ithaca 61-10 and Grayling 48-27. Undefeated wrestlers were Jesse Gorney (125), Triston Beardslee (130), Keegan Ellison (140), Terry Grieser (160) and James Smith (189). Belding 3-2 at Tri County: The Redskins were 3-2 at the Tri County Invitational Saturday, getting a first-round 69-4 win over Ravenna, but then lost to LeRoy Pine River 40-35 and the host Vikings 44-34. Belding rebounded with a 39-22 win over Comstock Park and a 48-22 win over Wayland. Nate Cooley (125), Jesse Scheidel (130), Brady Phelps (140), Michael Walker (171) and Neil McCully (189) were each 5-0 at the tournament. Record: 7-5. Greenville 3-2 in Holland: The Yellow Jackets won three matches at the Tim Horn Invitational at Holland High School Saturday. The Jackets, ranked eighth in the state in Division 2 in the latest Michigan Wrestling Association poll, lost to Detroit Catholic Central, ranked second in Divison 1, 49-18, and Allegan, ranked third in the state in Division 3, 51-19. But Greenville beat East Kentwood 47-20, Clarkston 41-33 and Rochester 44-24. The only undefeated Jacket was Will Parmelee (130-135), while Alec Ward (140/145) and Jake Hopkins (152) were 4-1. CC-Crystal 39, Portland St. Patrick 30: The Eagles continued to win over the former Class D state champion Shamrocks, winning Saturday’s non-conference game for their third win in four meetings. Tori Christiansen led CC-Crystal with 18 points and nine rebounds, and Mackenzie Geister added 10 more points for 28 of the 39 the Eagles scored. Record: 3-1. Next game: at Durand Tuesday.
