HOWARD CITY — A Howard City man has been arraigned after allegedly severely abusing his girlfriend’s 13-month-old daughter.
Sean Robert Griffin, 25, was arraigned and charged today in 64B District Court in Stanton with felony child abuse in the first degree. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Griffin is the live-in boyfriend of the injured child’s mother.
According to the Michigan State Police, the child was in the care of the boyfriend while the mother was away and was later taken to Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont when the mother noticed the injuries.
The child suffered three broken ribs and “significant bruising” to the head, face and abdomen, according to MSP investigators.
Troopers responded to the hospital at the request of Child Protective Services to investigate the injuries, which were determined by doctors to be the result of abuse.
The Daily News has left a message with the MSP Hart Post seeking additional information about the incident.
