Greenville wins Parma Western Invite: The Yellow Jackets were winners at the Parma Western Invitational Saturday, going 4-0 in beating Lake Odessa Lakewood 50-16, Quincey 71-3, the host Panthers 46-24 and Clinton 78-6. Almost every wrestler went undefeated or lost once, led by 5-0 wrestlers Will Parmelee (130 pounds), Jake Hopkins (152), Reed Cox (160), Zach Holder (189), Andrew Bowen (215) and Cole Antcliff (285). Going 4-1 were Tren Bartrum (103), Stephen Hilliker (112), Nate Baker (119), Alex Budge (125), Tate Jeffrey (135), Alec Ward (145) and Luke Bontrager (171). Record: 19-5. Next match: at home against Forest Hills Eastern Wednesday.
CC-Crystal fourth at Alma: The Eagles went 3-2 to take fourth place at the Alma Invitational Saturday, winning matches against Perry 51-27, Leslie 51-15 and Lansing Eastern 57-19. But CC-Crystal lost to Chippewa HIlls 41-28 and Caledonia 36-30, and those were the first two dual-meet losses of the season. Undefeated wrestlers at the tournament were Dillen Decker (152), Darren Decker (160) and Alex Baker (112), while wrestlers who went 4-1 were Taylor Barkley (103), Dallas O’Green (125) and Brad Osterman (285). Belding pulls out of tourney: The Redskins had an administrative “snow day” called Saturday, according to wrestling coach Travis Wilcox. So the Redskins did not go to the Gladwin Invitational Saturday. Next match: at home against Allendale Wednesday.
