Boys basketball

Central Montcalm 53, Holton 39: The Green Hornets held the Red Devils to just four points in the first quarter and ran away with the CSAA matchup Saturday. Lane Ledford canned 26 points for Central and added 16 rebounds. Records: 6-5 and 4-5. Next game: at home against Morley Stanwood Tuesday.

Girls basketball

CC-Crystal 45, New Lothrup 28: The Eagles handed the Hornets their first loss of the season in Saturday’s non-conference game. Tori Christiansen led CC-Crystal with 15 points and Jenna Schneider added another 10 to the win. Record: 12-1. Next game: at Sparta Tuesday.

Wrestling

Montabella has six champs: The Mustangs had six wrestlers take first place and one take second place at the CMAC championships Saturday. Winning their weight classes were Dustin Scott (130 pounds), Dalton Kuklewski (135), Zack Taubitz (145), Joey Durham (160), Jonny Durham (171) and Dan Davidson (285), while Nate Miller (140) took second. Next match: at Breckenridge for the Division 4 team district tournament Thursday.

CC-Crystal has three winners: The Eagles had three winners and four second-place finishers at the CMAC championships Saturday. Winners in their divisions were Ryan Aregersinger (103), Dallas O’Green (125) and Darren Decker (152). Taking second were Brendan Silvernail (119), Frank Smith (189), Austin Hopkins (215) and Brad Osterman (285). Next match: at Grandville Calvin Christian for the Division 4 team district tournament Thursday.

Lakeview gets two winners: The Wildcats hosted the CSAA wrestling championships and came out with two winners in Nolan Saxton (112) and Garrett Cavendish (171). Terry Greiser (160) took second place in the meet. Next match: at Grant for the Division 3 team district tournament Wednesday.

Central takes two seconds: The Green Hornets were able to take a couple of second-place finishes at the CSAA wrestling championships Saturday. Cody VeltKamp (119) and Cory Kindlle (285) took seconds in their weight classes. Next match: at Ithaca for the Division 3 team district tournament Wednesday.

Greenville wins O-K Bronze: The Yellow Jackets won its second straight O-K Bronze championship on Friday. The Yellow Jackets had eight conference champions. Winning titles were Tate Jeffrey (125), Will Parmelee (135), Alec Ward (140), Jake Hopkins (152), Reed Cox (160), Zach Holder (189), Andrew Bowen (215) and Cole Antcliff (285). Nate Baker (112) and Luke Bontrager (171) finished second. Ward won his fourth conference title. Next match: Thursday at home against Fremont in district tournament.
