GREENVILLE — A student from Greenville Middle School sustained minor injuries Wednesday morning after being struck by a car on his way to school.
According to Public Safety Director Mark Reiss, the injuries were not serious, though the student was taken to Spectrum Health to be examined.
Reiss urged city residents to do their best to keep their sidewalks shoveled and salted, particularly along school routes.
“It’s always an advantage if people keep their sidewalks clear for pedestrians,” Reiss said. “There’s an ordinance about keeping walks clear; we enforce it on an as-needed basis.”
Reiss also noted an unusual number of traffic accidents today, but said most of them were minor.
“When the roads get slippery, we have a lot of rear-end accidents,” he said.
