Central wins district: The Green Hornets picked up their second straight Division 3 district title Wednesday after beating Shepherd 51-23 and Alma 39-33. Central got the district title after breaking a 33-33 tie with a pin and a major decision in the final two matches. Going 2-0 were Logan King (112 pounds), Cody VeltKamp (119), Zack MacDonald (135), Dakota James (152) and Cory Kindlle (285). Record: 16-11. Next match: at Chippewa Hills for individual districts Saturday.

CC-C wins district: The Eagles won their second straight district title on Wednesday. CC-C defeated Folwer (78-6) and Grandville Calvin Christian (60-18) in the finals. Shane Wiggins, Dallas O’Green, Darren Decker, Dillon Decker, Ryan Bidwell, Frank Smith and Brad Osterman all won by pin in the championship match. Ryan Argersinger, Taylor Barkley and Austin Hopkins won by void. Next match: at Montague for individual districts on Saturday.

Boys basketball

CC-Crystal 45, Belding 44: The Eagles took the lead with eight seconds left on an Aaron Haines jumper, and a long three-pointer by Kole Hart at the buzzer was short to give CC-Crystal the win. Garrett Tabor led the Eagles with 14 points and 16 rebounds and Haines finished with 12 points. Hart had 25 of Belding’s 44 and no one else had more than nine. Records: Belding is 3-10, CC-Crystal is 7-3. Next games: Belding is at home against Wyoming High Friday, CC-Crystal is at Ashley Friday.

Lakeview 62, Morley Stanwood 50: The Wildcats set up their rematch with Reed City — the only team that has beaten Lakeview — with a win over the Mohawks Wednesday night in a makeup game from Jan. 24. Nate Shurlow led Lakeview with 20 points, Shawn Lindsey added 13 and Caleb Ruvalcaba added 10 for 43 of the Wildcats 62 points. Records: 10-1 and 9-1. Next game: at home against Reed City Friday.

Butternut 70, Montabella 52: In a game that was being made up from Dec. 20, Butternut used a 15-9 first quarter to knock off the Mustangs Wednesday night. Leading Butternut was Tyler Endsley with 18 points and 12 rebounds, Issac Crouse with 18 points and 10 blocks, Bobby Ross with 12 points and Logan Cairns with 11 points. Montabella got 17 points from Cayden Nisonger and 10 from Brady Burggren. Records: Butternut is 7-7, Montabella is 3-9. Next games: Butternut is at Lansing for Lansing CHAP, Montabella is at Vestaburg Friday.
