Girls basketball

CC-Crystal 42, Saranac 24: The Eagles opened Class C district play at home with a win over the Redskins Monday night. Mikayla Duflo and Mackenzie Geister outscored the entire Saranac team, as Duflo had 16 points and Geister added 13. Record: 18-2. Next game: at home against Pewamo-Westphalia Wednesday.

St. Louis 61, Vestaburg 36: The Wolverines had their season end at the Class C district at Montabella Monday night when they were outscored 20-2 in the second quarter. Ashley Beach had 15 points to lead Vestaburg. Next game: Vestaburg’s season is over.

Belding 84, Central Montcalm 55: The Redskins put an end to the Green Hornets’ season with a win in the Class B district at Ovid-Elsie Monday night. Peyton Mount led Belding with a career-high 20 points. Stefanie Harig added 15, Katie Wood chipped in 12 and Hallee Breimayer canned 11 for the Redskins. Ashten Bohen had 18 points and Hanna Christensen scored 12 for Central in the loss. Records: Belding is 14-6, Centrals’ record was not available. Next games: Belding is at Ovid-Elsie Wednesday, Central’s season is over.

Boys basketball

Sacred Heart 74, Vestaburg 57: The Wolverines were held to just three points in the first quarter in losing to the Irish in an MSAC game Monday night. Dewayne McKinney led five Vestaburg players in scoring with 21 points, followed by Collin Dove with 13 and Keegan Scott with 12. Records: 8-7 and 3-5. Next game: at home against Farwell today.
