CARSON CITY— A Carson City-Crystal High School student has been suspended after allegedly leaving a gun in a vehicle in the school parking lot overnight.
According to Superintendent Kevin Murphy, the incident took place last week.
“A young student was prepared for a turkey hunt and left a gun in his vehicle overnight in our parking lot,” Murphy said. “The police found the vehicle in the handicap spot and they investigated it and that’s when they found the gun.”
The student was immediately suspended from school. A student hearing is scheduled for May 7 to determine whether any further disciplinary action should take place.
“There was no threat,” Murphy emphasized. “There was no danger and no one got hurt. However, we do take incidents like this very seriously.”
