Storm delays Belding track vs. Allendale

Belding’s Summer Eubanks clears a hurdle during Tuesday’s shortened track meet at home against Allendale. Eubanks placed second behind teammate Alex Parker.

BELDING — Inclement weather forced a delay in the track meet between the Belding Redskins and Allendale Falcons on Tuesday evening.

The matchup between O-K Blue rivals was delayed after five completed events and will be made up on Monday at 4 p.m.

After five events, the Redskins boys trailed the Falcons 19-13.

Jeff Brimmer won the high jump for Belding at 5-8, while Blake Flynn was second. Telson Jones (19.28) and Flynn (20.12) placed second and third in the 110-meter hurdles.

Other completed events were the long jump, 100 dash and 3,200 relay.

After five events, the Belding girls were going strong with a 35-6 advantage.

McKenzie Johnston won the high jump at 4-8, Danielle Rode the pole vault (9-0) and Alex Parker the 100 hurdles (18.21).

The Belding 3,200 relay team consisting of Monica Baylis, Danielle Rode, Teresa Myles and Rachel Warner took first place with a time of 10:11.13, nearly a full minute faster than Allendale.

Mackenzie Sower was second in the high jump (4-6), Mackenzie Rode second in the long jump (14-7 1/4), Parker second in the pole vault (8-0) and Summer Eubank second in the 100 hurdles (18.31).

Belding will host Wyoming on Thursday.
