SHERIDAN — A local teenager is in custody after authorities responded to a hostage situation in which the teenager was allegedly holding his mother hostage at knifepoint.
Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a knife-wielding 14-year-old holding his mother captive at a residence in the 400 block of East Evergreen Street in Sheridan at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Deputies arrived and learned the mother, father, and two younger siblings were able to safely exit the home prior to their arrival. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident.
There were no reported injuries during the event.
The juvenile is being held in a juvenile holding facility in Evart pending a hearing in Montcalm County Juvenile Court.
