Softball

Central downed twice: The Green Hornets lost both games of a doubleheader Tuesday to Holton, as the Red Devils mercied Central 10-0 in five innings and won the second 2-1. Scylar Blaisdell took the loss in the opener after going just two innings and allowing eight runs with three strikeouts. Emily Taylor and Mallory Morgan had the only Hornet hits. Morgan allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out eight. Taylor, Courtnee Nicholson and Hailey Hollenbeck had the only hits. Record: 9-7 (4-4). Next game: at the Webberville Invitational Saturday.

Soccer

Lakeview 1, Reed City 0: the Wildcats scored early in the first half on a goal from Devon Wood assiststed by Brookelyn Reed and made it stand until lightning in the second half canceled the rest of the game. Danielle Grant made two saves in the win for Lakeview. Record: 5-5 (2-3). Next game: at home against Ludington Friday.

Northview 8, Greenville 0: For the fourth time in the last five games the Yellow Jackets were mercied, this time by the Wildcats Wednesday. Danata Paulino made 20 saves for Greenville. Record: 0-9 (0-6). Next game: at home against Belding Friday.

Boys track

Montabella wins MSAC jamboree: The Mustangs won Wednesday’s MSAC jamboree at Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart Wednesday with 101 points. Joey Durham had four places in the win, winning the 110-meter hurdles (19.06) and the 300-meter hurdles (46.02), taking second in the long jump (17-10) and fourth in the shot put (39-4). His brother Jonny was fourth in the high jump (5-4), won the pole vault (10-6), fifth in the Shot put (38-10 ½) and third in the discus (108-6). Next meet: at Vestaburg for the MSAC championships May 21.

CC-Crystal third at Sacred Heart: The Eagles scored 78 points, which was six less than Coleman for second. Kolton Kavanaugh picked up four places with a third in the 400 (57.00), a second in the high jump (5-6) and running on the winning 400-meter relay (47.82) and fourth-place 800-meter relay (3:59.66) teams. Next meet: at Alma College for the Scottie Classic Saturday.

Girls track

Montabella wins at Sacred Heart: The Mustangs scored 132 points to win the MSAC jamboree at Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart Wednesday, led by Kensington Garvey with four places. She won the 800 (2:31.87), was second in the 1,600 (5:37.18) and ran on the winning 1,600-meter relay (4:37.72) and 3,200-meter relay (10:44.00) teams. Brynn Lobert added firsts in the 100 (13.84) and the 200 (29.53) and was second in the 400 (1:08.99). Next meet: at Vestaburg for the MSAC championships May 21.

CC-Crystal second behind Montabella: The Eagles finished with 111 points for second at the MSAC meet at Sacred Heart Wednesday. Kaitlin Beyer had four places for CC-Crystal, winning the 1,600 (5:36.43), taking second in the 3,200 (11:58.27) and running on the second-place 1,600-meter relay (4:45.84) and the second-place 3,200-meter relay (11:31.00). Shalie Borton also had four places, running on the 1,600-meter relay and taking third in the 400 (1:11.49), second in the high jump (4-6) and winning the pole vault (7-0). Next meet: at Alma College for the Scottie Classic Saturday.
