Baseball

Lakeview takes two from CM: The Wildcats won both games of a CSAA doubleheader Tuesday over the Green Hornets by scores of 3-2 and 8-0. Jordan Stephens of Lakeview hit a two-RBI double to give the Wildcats the win. Kyler Ridgeway pitched a complete-game four-hitter, walking two and fanning nine. Oryan Wetherington lost, scattering seven hits around six strikeouts. Garrett Cavendish had two hits for Lakeview, while the four Central hits came from Wetherington, Dalin Clark, Brady Shindorf and Jesse Petersen. Game two’s winner was Brad Hamlin, as he went five innings and allowed two hits with seven strikeouts. Clark only went a third of an inning and allowed five hits. Stephens and Joey Cole each had two hits. Central got hits Logan DeYoung and Todd Switzer. Records: Lakeview is 5-9 (4-6), Central is 6-12-1 (3-7). Next games: Lakeview is home vs. White Cloud Friday, Central is at home vs. Montabella Thursday.

Belding takes two: The Redskins were winners twice over Wyoming by scores of 3-1 and 3-0 Tuesday. Game one was a shutout from Aaden Quinn, who stuck out eight and gave up three hits. Belding, who benefitted from four errors from the Wolves, got one hit from four different players. Logan Campbell threw a no-hitter in the second game, striking out seven. Five different Redskins had a hit in the game. Record: 7-15. Next game: at Wyoming Thursday.

CC-Crystal manages a split: The Eagles lost the first game of an MSAC doubleheader to Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart 2-1 despite Chris Krukowski and Tyler Krzeminski combining for a no-hitter. Krzeminski was hit with the loss when he gave up an unearned run in the top of the seventh. Jeremy Schneider broke up an Irish attempted no-hitter with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Schneider came back in the second game and got the win, allowing five hits with two walks, striking out eight. Krzeminski, Michael McCrackin and Spencer Harwood had two hits each in the second game. Record: 10-9-2 (4-4). Next game: at home against St. Louis Thursday.

Greenville 11, West Catholic 4: The Yellow Jackets won the first game of a doubleheader at home against West Catholic on Tuesday. Game two was suspended because of darkness with the Yellow Jackets leading 4-1. That game will be continued on Thursday at West Catholic, prior to the third game of the series. Record: 11-4. Next game: at West Catholic on Thursday.

Softball

CC-Crystal downed twice: The Eagles had a total of three hits in two games against Mount Pleasant Sacred heart Tuesday, losing 9-0 and 10-3. Whitney LaVictor took both losses, allowing a total of 30 hits with one strikeout and four walks in the doubleheader. Taylee Smith, Mackenzie Geister and Karrigan Flick had the only hits for CC-Crystal. Record: 9-13 (5-3). Next game: at home against St. Louis Thursday.

Greenville loses two: The Yellow Jackets lost a pair of games to West Catholic Tuesday, getting beat 11-1 and 11-3. Sarah Newhouse took the loss in both games. Elizabeth Niemiec and Devon Tate had two hits each in the opener, while Niemiec had three hits in the nightcap. Record: 12-12  (4-6). Next game: at West Catholic Thursday.

Golf

Lakeview second, Central fifth: The Wildcats were second and the Green Hornets fifth at the CSAA jamboree at Spring Valley Golf Course in Reed City, Tuesday. Lakeview shot a 337, which was 22 strokes more than winner Big Rapids, but tied with Chippewa Hills. The host Coyotes shot 393 and the Hornets shot 412. The Wildcats got a 75 from Jon Wandel, 80 from Ben Outman, 89 from Seth Kanouse and 93 from Bennett Tomandl. Central’s scores were not made available. Next match: at Big Rapids for the Cardinal Invitational Saturday.

Soccer

Lakeview 1, Ithaca 0: The Wildcats got a goal from Tricia Beckett halfway through the second half and made it stand against the Yellowjackets Tuesday night. Beckett’s goal was assisted by Brookelyn Reed. Danielle Grant made 12 saves as goalkeeper. Record: 6-5. Next game: at home against Big Rapids Crossroads today.
