BELDING — Belding High School hosted a junior varsity meet on Monday consisting of only freshman and sophomores.
In all, 10 teams competed in the event.
Holland Christian won the boys competition with 106 points. Sparta was second with 91.5 and Kenowa Hills third with 83. Greenville was sixth with 48 points and Belding 10th with seven points.
Kenowa Hills won the girls event with 99 points. Sparta was second with 93 points, Greenville third with 72 and Belding fourth with 67.5.
The Greenville boys had three place in the discus. Taylor Schofield (104-0) was third, Tyler Kuiper (103-7) fourth and Blake Whitcomb (101-0) fifth.
Trent Heintzelman was third in the 300-meter hurdles (45.06), Andrew Mason sixth in the 3,200 (11:15.6), Jacob Reamer fifth in the 400 (57.44) and Spencer Rowland was fifth in the 1,600 (5:01.5) and sixth in the 800 (2:14.4).
Belding’s Blake Flynn was second in the high jump at 5-7.
On the girls side, Greenville’s Landon Kemp won four events.
Kemp set a school record in the pole vault of 11-8. That broke her own school record of 11-7 set earlier this season. Kemp was also first in the long jump (16-1 1/4), 100 hurdles (16.05) and 200 (26.96).
Haley Peters was third in the 100 hurdles (18.11) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (53.94) for Greenville. Isabelle Matthews was fifth in the pole vault (8-6) and Hailey Irish was fifth in the long jump (13-8 1/4).
Belding’s Teresa Myles was second in the 800 (2:34.7) and third in the 1,600 (5:37.4). Alex Parker was second in the 100 hurdles (17.61) and third in the pole vault (9-0). Emma Jakeway was third in the 300 hurdles (53.47) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (18.62), while Summer Eubank was fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.18) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (54.21).
Johanna McCully was sixth in the 100 (13.89), Hallee Breimayer fourth in the 200 (28.27), Rebecca Loser sixth in the shot put (25-6 1/2) and Sara Nummer sixth in the discus (83-7).
Belding and Greenville compete today in the MetroHealth Sports Med Scholarship meet.
