Central takes two from CCC: The Green Hornets won a pair of games from the Eagles Monday by scores of 10-4 and 14-3. Saydee Rowland gave up seven hits, walking three and striking out two in the win for Central, while Whitney LaVictor went 6 1/3 innings and scattered 10 hits and five walks around two strikeouts. For CC-Crystal, Hunter Vining, Haley Lutherloh and Taylee Smith had two hits each, while Emaleigh Taylor was the only Hornet with two hits. In game two, Mallory Morgan went all five innings and gave up just three hits and a walk while fanning five. Kendall Norton lasted only three innings and scattered nine hits and two walks without a strikeout. Central’s Makayla Studley had three hits including a home run, Scylar Blaisdell and Hannah Hollenbeck had two hits and Taylor added a home run. Viking, Lutherloh and Raelynne Ferguson had the Eagle hits. Records: CC-Crystal is 9-17, Central is 14-9. Next games: CC-Crystal is at Fulton Wednesday, Central is at Hesperia today.


CC-Crystal, Central split two: The Green Hornets won the first game of two 6-5, but the Eagles won the second game 10-7. Ben West was the winning pitcher for Central in the opener and Todd Switzer got the save, but stats were not made available. Dalin Clark took the loss in game two for Central. Logan DeYoung, Oryan Wetherington and Brody Shindorf had two hits each for the Hornets. Records: CC-Crystal is 12-11-2, Central is 8-14-1. Next games: CC-Crystal is at Fulton Wednesday, Central is at Hesperia today.


Newaygo 2, Lakeview 0: The Wildcats were shut out by the Lions when Newaygo scored a goal in each half, clinching the CSAA title in the process. Lakeview had chances but were unable to score, according to coach Chris Smith. Danielle Grant made 10 saves. Record: 7-7. Next game: at home Wednesday against Tri County.


Belding 3rd: The Redskins placed third at Monday’s O-K Blue Jamboree at Silver Lake Golf Course hosted by Comstock Park. Belding fired a 186, behind Comstock Park’s 168 and Coopersville’s 171. Allendale shot 187 and Sparta 188. Grant Hansen led the Redskins with a 42. Carter Kemmis shot 46, Nick Badder 48 and Brad Gilman 50. Next match: at The Emerald in St. Johns for districts.
