Belding golfers miss out on regionals

ST. JOHNS — The Belding Redskins golf team competed at the Division 2 district tournament on Wednesday at The Emerald in St. Johns.

The top six teams and top six individuals from non-qualifying teams advance to the regional tournament.

The Redskins finished seventh with 382, missing regionals by 21 strokes behind Charlotte with 361.

DeWitt was district champion with 299. East Lansing shot 314, St. Johns 315, Haslett 318 and Lakewood 339.

Belding did advance three individuals to regionals.

Grant Hansen was third with 88, Nick Badder fifth with 94 and Carter Kemmis sixth with 96.

Haslett’s Marc Varlesi and St. Johns’ Zach Rosendale were match medalists with 73.

Cameron Dombrowski shot 104 for Belding, while Bradley Gillman shot 110.

Regionals are Wednesday at Prairie Wood Golf Club in Ostego.

Districts

Greenville will compete in a Division 2 district tournament today at Quail Ridge Golf Course hosted by Forest Hills Northern.

Also competing today is Central Montcalm and Lakeview at Lakeside Links Golf Course hosted by Mason County Central in Division 3 and Montabella at The Emerald at Maple Creek hosted by Middleton-Fulton in Division 4.

Tri County will compete Friday at the Cadillac Country Club hosted by Cadillac in Division 2.
