Baseball

Central Montcalm 1-1: The Hornets split a pair of nonconference games against Pewamo-Westphalia on Wednesday. The Hornets lost game one 9-4. Jake Ebels took the loss. Bo Studley had two hits, while Ebels had a two-run double. Central won game two 3-1. Noah Spohr went the distance for the win allowing seven hits and one earned run. Jesse Petersen had two hits, Oryan Wetherington an RBI double and Studley an RBI single. Record: 10-16-1. Next game: at Big Rapids today.

Greenville 0-2: The Yellow Jackets lost a pair of games to Forest Hills Eastern at home on Wednesday in O-K Bronze action. Both games were 8-4 defeats. Kaleb Vinton took the loss in game one in seven innings of work with four strikeouts. Peter Januzelli went 3-for-4. Max Little suffered the loss in game two. He struck out six in seven innings. Parker Syrjala went 2-for-3. Record: 13-10 (6-8). Next game: at Forest Hills Eastern today.

Softball

CC-Crystal loses two: The Eagles were knocked off in the M-57 rivalry by the Pirates by scores of 5-3 and 8-1 Wednesday. Whitney LaVictor took the loss in the opener after allowing seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts. CC-Crystal’s four hits came from Sierra Assemany, Raelynne Ferguson, Hunter Vining and Taylee Smith. Kendall Norton was hit with the loss in the nightcap, scattering 11 hits and two walks. Assemany had two of the Eagles’ six hits. Record: 9-19. Next game: at St. Charles for Division 3 districts against Ithaca Tuesday.

Boys track

Montabella second, CC-Crystal third at MSAC championships: The Mustangs scored 87 ½ points to finish behind Coleman’s 112 ½ in the MSAC championships Wednesday at Vestaburg. The Eagles were third with 69 points. Montabella’s only win was from the 3,200-meter relay team (9:42.25). CC-Crystal got two wins from Tyler Craig, as he won the 1,600 (4:58.84) and the 3,200 (10:57.01). Next meet: CC-Crystal is at Greenville for the Daily News Invitational Tuesday, Montabella is at Mount Pleasant for the Morning Sun Invitational Tuesday.

Girls track

CC-Crystal wins MSAC over Montabella: The Eagle girls won the MSAC track championships Wednesday in Vestaburg with 106 ½ points, which was nine points more than the second-place Mustangs. Montabella won all four relay races, but only got wins from Kensington Garvey in the 800 (2:32.14) and the 1,600 (5:29.03). CC-Crystal got wins from Makayla Baker in the 100-meter hurdles (17.50) and the 300-meter hurdles (51.95), Karen Engen in the shot put (29-0 ½) and Shalie Borton in the high jump (4-10). Next meet: CC-Crystal is at Greenville for the Daily News Invitational Tuesday, Montabella is at Mount Pleasant for the Morning Sun Invitational Tuesday.

Soccer

Tri County 4, Lakeview 0: The Wildcats were shut out by the Vikings Wednesday afternoon, as they were down four players who were out with injuries, according to coach Chris Smith. Danielle Grant made 10 saves for Lakeview. Record: 7-8: Next game: at Grand Rapids Catholic Central for the Division 3 district tournament May 29.

Forest Hills Northern 8, Greenville 0: The Yellow Jackets were mercied by the Huskies Wednesday night. Danata Paulino made 10 saves for Greenville. Record: 1-12. Next game: at Northview for the Division 2 district tournament May 29.
