FARWELL — The Lakeview Wildcats competed in the Division 3 regional golf tournament on Wednesday.
As a team, the Wildcats placed eighth. Just the top three teams advance.
Manistee was regional champ with 313, followed by Kalkaska with 321 and Ludington third with 325. Lakeview shot 361.
“Once again our team surpassed expectations today,” Lakeview coach Brian Corwin. “This was one of our better scores of the year.”
Jon Wandel finished in the four-way tie for match medalist with a round of 77. Ludington’s Ethan Leavitt and Manistee’s Matt Simmons and Blake Davis also shot 77s.
Seth Kanouse shot 89 for Lakeview. Ben Outman added a 97, Jake Park 98 and Bennett Tomandl 103.
“Jon’s efforts earned him a place at state finals next week at the Meadows at Grand Valley,” Corwin said. “Seth also had a great round tying his season best of 89. Ben and Jake rounded out the scoring with 97 and 98.”
The Lakeview team season is over, but Wandel will compete on June 6-7 in the Division 3 state finals.
