EUREKA TOWNSHIP — A Belding man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pointing a long gun at another man.
Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a felonious assault report in the 11000 block of South River Road in Eureka Township at approximately 1:20 p.m. Thursday.
The victim, a 50-year-old Belding man, went to the home of a friend on South River Road. Lester Heminger, 49, of Belding, also lives on that property.
An argument erupted between the victim and Heminger, which led to Heminger retrieving a long gun and pointing it at the victim.
Deputies arrived and apprehended Heminger without incident. The weapon, a single-shot shotgun, was recovered. No one was injured.
Heminger was arraigned and charged on Friday with aggravated assault. He remains in custody on a $2,000 bond.
The Greenville Department of Public Safety assisted at the scene of the incident and Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services was placed on standby during the event.
