STANTON — The longtime leader of economic development in Montcalm County is stepping down as the organization heads in a new direction.
Franz Mogdis is resigning as executive director of the Montcalm Alliance after 17 years. His resignation is effective July 31.
The Montcalm Alliance will meet next Wednesday to discuss future plans. A reception for Mogdis will follow the meeting at 3:30 p.m. at the Montcalm Area Intermediate School District office in Stanton.
Mogdis has overseen most major economic developments in Montcalm County over the past two decades, including the establishment of Renaissance Zones in Carson City, Edmore and Howard City, maintaining and continuing development of the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail and creating the Montcalm County Brownfield Authority and Planning Commission, the latter two of which Mogdis will continue on with as administrator and chairman, respectively.
