BELDING — The Belding Police Department is investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins over the past 24 hours.

Belding Police Chief Dale Nelson said this morning there have been six cases of items and money being taken from unlocked cars.

“It usually happens every summer,” he said. “They roam town looking for unlocked cars. Mostly, they are looking for money.”

Since Wednesday morning there have been six reported larcenies from a vehicle throughout the city.

“Residents should be aware and lock their car and not leave anything of value in their car or anything visible from the outside of the car,” Nelson said.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Belding Police Department at (616) 794-1900.
