BELDING — Bruce Brown is no stranger to the profession of managing cities, and now he is expected to bring his knowledge of the industry to this community.
During a special Belding City Council Tuesday evening, members of the council voted unanimously 5-0 to nominate Brown for the position of interim city manager.
Brown, 75, of Kentwood, was interviewed by the council, along with fellow candidate Reid Charles, 74, of Brighton.
Several council members described Brown as “the right fit” for Belding over Charles.
According to Mayor Ron Gunderson, a contract between the city and Brown will have to be negotiated on, including salary, specific hours per week of work, and total length of time in the position.
The council has a 90-day window from the date of Jan. 20, when previous city manager Meg Mullendore was terminated, to hire a new city manager.
