CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — The Crystal Community Center has become the home of several community groups and organizations, but wear and tear on the building is beginning to take its tole.
During Wednesday evening’s Crystal Township Board meeting, Township Clerk Bob Naumann brought forth a proposal requesting that the board seek funds to repair the building through a bond, to be voted on by residents of the township.
According to Naumann, the purpose of the bond would be “to make the necessary improvements and repairs to the Crystal Community Center in a timely fashion, resulting in monthly utility savings and creating a safe and desirable environment.”
The community center is currently the home of the township offices, an alternative education program, and is projected as the future home of the Crystal Community Library.
Naumann said the board would discuss the issue further during its December board meeting, estimating that any eventual proposal would arrive on an August 2016 ballot at the earliest.
