GREENVILLE — It was all about farming, brush grinding and street closures during Tuesday’s Greenville City Council meeting.

The city council approved a land lease agreement for local farmer Jed Welder to plant and harvest crops on 22 acres of city-owned land off of Backus Road. The lease is in the amount of $1,500.

The city council also approved a motion to award a bid for tub grinding services to Green Rock Landscaping Supply, Inc. in the amount of $13,050. The company will be grinding up brush and logs at the city’s compost facility.

In addition, the city council approved a motion to close downtown streets in connection with Friday’s Hometown Christmas Parade.
