GREENVILLE — Greenville students will start the 2016-2017 academic school year on August 29.

The board of education approved the 2016-2017 academic calendar at Monday evening’s meeting, having secured the early start waiver from the state board of education. This calendar option allows for five extra instructional days.

Students will come back to a four-day week for the first and second weeks of school as the law mandates a four-day-weekend in observance of Labor Day.

The last day of the 2016-2017 academic year, barring excessive inclement weather days, is slated for June 7, 2017.
