BELDING — During a regular meeting Monday evening, the Belding Board of Education approved the hire of Michael Ostrander as the new hire for the position of high school principal.
A search committee of administrators, teachers and a board member interviewed candidates on June 14. After those interviews, the committee decided to recommend Ostrander for the position.
Ostrander has been a teacher for Belding Area Schools since 2006 in English and History. He has served in several leadership capacities, including serving as a district data coach, a member of the teacher evaluation committee and as a youth advisory council advisor. He has also been the head varsity baseball coach and the assistant varsity football coach.
He has a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan and a masters degree from the University of Cincinatti.
He will receive a probationary administrative contract and will begin the transition on July 1.
