STANTON — The Montcalm Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) Board of Education heard a presentation from Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Ali Barnes during Thursday morning’s regular meeting.

Barnes spoke about different aspects of the audit, which was overwhelmingly positive for the district. She said that fund balances in the district are “very healthy” and that there are not any notable deficits to be concerned about.

The board also voted unanimously, with President Steve Foster absent, to approve new hires of Terry Platte, autism spectrum disorder teacher, Sadie VanderSchuur, para educator, and Trisha Saylor, speech and language pathologist. The board also approved the resignation of Eric Krebill, network administrator.

Also approved were donations from Heartlands Institute of Technology the auto program at the Montcalm Area Career Center (MACC) of a 2000 Ford Taurus, a 1997 Dodge Dakota and a 2004 Chevrolet Venture. Fred and Ellie Bishop also donated a 1952 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck.
