IN BRIEF: Crystal Township approves county road contract

CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — Members of the Crystal Township Board voted unanimously Wednesday evening to approve a road contract with the Road Commission of Montcalm County.

Township Supervisor Chris Johnston said after meeting with Road Commission Superintendent Mark Christiansen, a number of roads were chosen to receive improvements this summer at a total cost of $109,175.

Included roads will be; Colby Road from Mt. Hope Toad to County Line Road at a cost of $14,269; Duckland Road at a cost of $14,269; Blackmer Road from Sidney Road to Condensery Road at a cost of $49,942; and Senator Road, in partnership with Evergreen Township, from Sidney Road to Colby Road, and Colby Road to East Pakes Road, at a total cost of $10,409.

Also included in that total cost is brush spray at a cost of $2,000, blacktopping of Lake Street from the first block of E. Main Street to Smith Street at a cost of $13,286, and $5,000 for ditching.
