STANTON — In two years, Stanton’s water tower is due for overcoating and engineering, and the estimated cost is $60,000.

City Manger Elizabeth Pynaert on Tuesday evening recommended to the City Commission that Stanton set up a dedicated maintenance account to fund the future paintings, which need to be done every 10-15 years, and to annually contribute $9,600 to a fund to finance the maintenance.

Pynaert made the recommendations based on a meeting she and Department of Public Works Director Jamie Blum had with Dixon Engineering Vice President Ira Gabin.

City commissioners asked Pynaert to include the water tower maintenance in the 2017-2018 fiscal year budget, which Pynaert will present for the third time at the next City Commission meeting on May 23.
