CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — Members of the Crystal Township Board voted unanimously Wednesday evening to approve a request for fitness classes at the Crystal Community Center.

Township resident Diana Bailey approached the township board with the request to offer fitness classes for approximately one hour, three days a week at the community center, beginning this month and lasting through September.

This will be the third consecutive year that the classes, title “Fun and Fit,” are offered at the community center.

According to Bailey’s proposal, a nominal fee of $2 will be charged to each participant, per class, with half the proceeds given to the community center. The remaining half will go towards Bailey’s liability insurance, approximately $130, until it is paid.

One the insurance is paid, all proceeds will go to the community center.

The tentative schedule for the classes is 9 to 10 a.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to Bailey, the classes consist of a warm-up, cardio, cool-down ,resistance training, and core and stretch exercises to “fun and upbeat music.”
