BELDING — A new technology purchase has been approved by a local school board.

During the regular meeting of the Belding Board of Education Monday evening, board members approved the purchase of a storage area network (SAN) to replace what the district has. A SAN is a server that holds a large amount of hard drives. The district’s unit holds all the storage for the district’s 30 virtual servers.

The district obtained seven bids from four different vendors. The board approved a bid from Optio Data for $19,100. Funds to pay for the SAN will come from the sale of district iPads that have reached the end of the life cycle for the schools.
