JUST IN: Firefighters battling house fire in Pierson Township

Firefighters from multiple departments are battling a house fire at 21891 Vos Drive on Bass Lake.

The Howard City Fire Department responded to the scene and the Sand Lake Fire Department assisted. However, the Sand Lake Fire Department had to leave to fight another fire in Sand Lake, so the Maple Valley Township Fire Department was called in for backup.

UPDATE: Missing man with Alzheimer’s found in barn

Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a missing man who has Alzheimer’s and diabetes.

Ronald Hohenstein, 75, was last seen around 6:05 p.m. this evening when he left his home at 3640 Pine Trail Drive at Crooked Lake in Evergreen Township.

UPDATE: Bones of at least 2 people discovered buried in Edmore yard

People digging in their yard in downtown Edmore today discovered some buried bones, which local officials believe are human.

The Michigan State Police are working with Michigan State University forensic anthropology officials to learn more about the bones, which were discovered at 102 S. Main St. (M-46) in the yard of a home near the village’s ice cream store.
