The Central Montcalm Public School Board of Education has recommended six candidates to interview for the superintendent of the district. The top spot is currently being covered by Interim Superintendent Amy Meinhardt, following Kristi Teall’s resignation as superintendent as of June 30.
The Sheridan VFW Post and Ladies Auxiliary will host a Meet the Candidates event at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in anticipation of the upcoming primary election. The VFW Post is located at 209 W. Washington St. in downtown Sheridan.
As the city of Chicago gathered to plan out the 1933 centennial celebration of the birth of the city, they set out to feature an experience that the locals would not soon forget. The monumental occasion came in the form of the World’s Fair and was held on 427 acres of land stretching along the shore of Lake Michigan. The fair featured some of the most cutting edge exhibits including a visit from the German airship, the Graf Zeppelin.

Although summer is finally in full swing, there are developments in education that deserve our attention.
I want to call your attention to two of them.
The new Leppink’s Riverside Skatepark officially opened Tuesday afternoon in Belding.
High school students from Beijing, China, are visiting Greenville this week to learn about American culture and help the local community with service projects.
The Beijing students hosted a talent show at Greenville Middle School on Wednesday evening.

While every player finds his own way of dealing with the nerves, you’ll be hard pressed to witness any inclination of stress in the demeanor of 6-foot-4 third baseman, Dominic Ficociello. The calm, cool persona of the lanky infielder often settles in with something as simple as listening to Stevie Wonder classics, all the while displaying no sign of being effected by the pressure.
