Coopersville spoils special night for Belding with win

The Belding football team was hoping to give its senior players a proper send-off in their final game at Rudness Field and the community a perfect end to the fourth annual Day to Believe. Unfortunately, the Redskins got off to a slow start against the Broncos of Coopersville, and despite scoring 21 unanswered points in the second and third quarters, they suffered their fifth setback of the season by a score of 52-28.

Reed City starts quick, rolls by Central Montcalm

Winning Friday’s Central State Activities Association showdown with Reed City was all but out of the question after 24 minutes of football Friday night, so Central Montcalm began its playoff push in the second half — with the running clock working against the Hornets. Defending CSAA champion Reed City stayed on pace to repeat by running out to a 36-point halftime lead before settling for a 36-18 victory at Central Montcalm.

Sheridan VFW set to host candidate forum Thursday

Sheridan VFW Post 5065 and its Ladies Auxiliary will host a candidate forum Thursday evening at the VFW at 209 W. Washington St. in Sheridan. The forum will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be moderated by Eric Halvorsen and Belinda Slock. Refreshments will be served after the forum.

Greenville hosts MSBOA District 7 Marching Festival

Greenville High School will be hosting the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association’s District 7 Marching Band Festival on Wednesday at Legacy Field. Fourteen High School marching bands from around the area will be performing for a rating from adjudicators. It will be an evening of great music and high energy marching. All tickets are $5. Children younger than five get in free.
