CATO TOWNSHIP – A 48-year-old Lakeview man is in jail and facing charges of drunken driving after a passing motorist stopped to check on his well-being Friday.
According to Michigan State Police Lakeview Post reports, the suspect had been driving his vehicle on M-46 near Lake Road at about 8 p.m. when it did a 360 degree turn and drove off the roadway. The man drove back onto the roadway and pulled into a nearby driveway.
The erratic driving was noticed by another motorist who stopped to check on the driver.
It was found that the intoxicated driver was not at his residence and did not know who lived there. After climbing into the vehicle of the witness, the Lakeview man passed out.
Police arrested the man for driving under the influence and is being held at Montcalm County Jail. Names are not being released pending arraignment.
