EUREKA TOWNSHIP — One woman was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital Saturday afternoon after a two-car accident at M-91 and Baker Road.
Melissa Nagle, 19, was driving her 1997 Chevy Cavalier southbound on M-91 around 3:40 p.m. when she attempted to make a right turn onto Baker Road. However, one of her passengers told her she needed to turn left instead of right.
Nagle, already committed to the right-hand turn, attempted to change directions quickly and was struck by a southbound 2002 Chevy pickup truck driven by Sparkle Germain, 32. Germain’s vehicle, which was following Nagle’s vehicle, struck Nagle’s vehicle in the driver’s side door.
Nagle was pinned in the Cavalier and had to be extricated by the Greenville Department of Public Safety. She was airlifted to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital by AeroMed.
Nagle’s three passengers were not injured in the accident. Germain and her passenger also were not injured.
Everybody involved was wearing seat belts. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
