3 injured in chain reaction accident

Three people were seriously injured Saturday in a three-car accident on South Greenville Road (M-91) north of Sidney Road. A black Saturn Aura driven by 17-year old Montana Crawford was stopped on South Greenville Road waiting to turn into his residence when he was rear-ended by a white Dodge Stratus driven by 16-year old Derek Jeffery, according to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office.

Four injured in head-on accident

Four people, including three young children, were hurt after an alleged intoxicated driver crossed the center line and hit a family of five head-on. Police were looking for a Chevy Lumina minivan after callers to Montcalm County Central Dispatch reported it was driving erratically around 1 p.m. Sunday.

SHERIDAN – Three suspects have been caught after a fire was started behind Central Montcalm Elementary School in Sheridan on Saturday afternoon. Belding library drop box damaged

The Belding Police Department is investigating damage done to a book drop box at the Alvah N. Belding Library.

Belding Assistant Fire Chief Darryl Childs uses a thermal imaging camera to look for hot spots inside a burning storage building while another firefighter enters the structure.

Fire destroys half of storage building

Most of a storage building south of Belding is still standing after fire raced through the back off Monday morning. Belding firefighters responded to 5840 Flat River Trail around 9 a.m. They arrived to find the back of the building ablaze.

Huntington Bank in Greenville robbed at gunpoint

Huntington Bank in downtown Greenville has been hit by an armed robbery.
The suspect reportedly was armed with a semiautomatic handgun when the bank was robbed around 10:30 a.m., according to reports from police and Montcalm County Central Dispatch.

Cruiser damaged, officer OK

A Greenville public officer is OK after he was rear-ended while sitting in a parked police cruiser early Sunday morning. At about 2 a.m. officers from the Greenville Department of Public Safety responded to an assault complaint near the 700 block of South Lafayette Street. Officer Sean Parsons, who responded as a back-up, had just stopped in front of the residence, activated his emergency warning lights and was preparing to exit his patrol car when his car was struck from behind by a suspected drunk driver in a 2004 Toyota Four Runner.
