An elderly couple has lost their home as a fire that started in their garage spread through the house and consumed the home in a matter of minutes.
A 57-year-old man was flown to Grand Rapids with unknown conditions after his vehicle was struck by a branch. Nick Lober was traveling north on Lincoln Lake Road when a tree branch fell onto his black Toyota Tundra.
“A large branch fell from the tree,” Kent County Deputy Ron Kimbrough said. “He took most of the impact through his windshield.”
Firefighters from Greenville and Belding are currently on the scene at a fully involved house fire in Greenville. The fire is at a residence at 1016 E. Van Deinse Street near Walnut on the city’s northeast side. Flames were first noticed in the garage before the fire spread to the home.
A Stanton woman was airlifted to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital Friday afternoon after sustaining serious but nonlife-threatening injuries after a two-car crash on M-66, just north of Holland Lake Road. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Lakeview post are investigating the accident, which occurred at 2:05 p.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound on M-66 lost control, crossed the center line and collided with a southbound vehicle.

Mike Williams of the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office, two vehicles, a blazer and mini-van, were involved in an accident at the intersection of M-66 and Sessions Road.
A police pursuit ended in Greenville after a white Buick crashed into a ravine. Sgt. Dennis Magirl of the Greenville Department of Public Safety said the chase began in Montcalm County north of Greenville with the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police.
A pole barn and partially restored chevy pickup truck were destroyed in a fire Thursday afternoon at 552 S. Masters Rd. Stan Wills was resting in his home around 3 p.m. when a firefighter began banging on his front door and ringing his doorbell to alarm him of the fire.
A 19-year-old Sheridan man was treated for serious head and back injury after being ejected from his vehicle at 4 a.m. this morning. Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the rollover accident on W. M-57 near Lake Road. Christopher Niles was driving a Ford Explorer eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle and went off the roadway, where the vehicle rolled multiple times.
A Greenville woman died Wednesday night after colliding with a car while riding a motorcycle. Michigan State Police troopers from the Ionia Post are investigating the accident, which occurred at 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of M-66 and Dildine Road.
