Vestaburg’s football team may have blown a lead in their game against Montabella, but they still got the win. The Wolverines got a touchdown from Christian Benavedes to beat the Mustangs 30-24 in overtime Friday night to clinch their first playoff spot since 2007.

A condemned Home Township mobile home park is one step closer to being cleaned up after a court hearing Tuesday afternoon. Judge Suzanne Hoseth Kreeger granted several motions by Home Township attorney Thomas Wilson. The motions gave Corey Davy and Dorothy Henderline 30 days to clean up Edmore Estates on M-46 just west of Edmore — or else pay township officials to do it for them.

First the Montabella Mustangs set a school record for most wins in a season with eight. Then they earned the school’s first ever football playoff victory on Saturday.

The Mustangs dominated the second half of a 38-22 victory over Burton Bendle in the first round of the MHSAA football playoffs.

A condemned property failed to sell at the annual Montcalm County minimum bid land auction in September. The foreclosed building at 102 E. Elm St. in downtown Carson City was listed at $16,158.11 last month.
